Kakinada: Collector H Arun Kumar directed the officials to prepare an action plan for effective implementation of NTR Housing scheme by adopting public-private participation (PPP) model in the housing scheme.

Addressing a review meeting on NTR Housing Programme with officials of Municipal Corporation, Housing and representatives of Builders’ Association, at his camp office here on Sunday, the Collector said that 4,500 houses would be constructed in an area of 51 acres of land.

He said global tendering process would begin soon for housing project and the proposals would be sent to government for its approval. Calling for standardisation of construction norms for public housing, he said the houses should be of top quality.

Representatives of Builders’ Association welcomed the decision of the Collector and urged the latter to identify the beneficiaries well in advance before commencement of works. It may be recalled here that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called for adopting public-private partnership model to ensure transparency and efficiency and to make Andhra Pradesh as a State with one of the best public housing models.

East Godavari Housing PD Selva Raj, Kakinada Municipal Commissioner Alim Basha and others were also present.
