Krishna district again got into fame with implementation of welfare schemes with Aadhaar linkage to prevent misuse of government subsidies. The Economic Survey 2015-16 in its report praised the efforts of Krishna district administration in bringing misuse of subsidy in rice distribution to two per cent against national average of 15 per cent.

The Economic Survey 2015-16 in its report praised the efforts of Krishna district administration in bringing misuse of subsidy in rice distribution to two per cent against national average of 15 per cent.
The district administration led by District Collector Babu A introduced the Aadhaar linked Public Distribution System by arranging an electronic device at fair price shops and distributing rice with Aadhaar identification and biometric system.
The district administration is able to avert misuse of Rs 57.16 crore in public distribution system by using e-POS system in the past nine months. The officials are able to prevent misuse of 13,626 metric tonnes of rice, 838 metric tonnes of sugar, 279 metric tonnes of wheat, 295 metric tonnes of wheat flour, 527 mt of red gram dal and 3,279 litres of kerosene in Krishna district.
It may be noted that the government has been providing a subsidy of Rs 26.64 per kg of rice, Rs 18.5 on sugar, Rs 71.25 on red gram dal and Rs 47 subsidy on kerosene. As per Economic Survey report, in Andhra Pradesh 29,60,400 tonnes of rice being distributed against allotment of 30,31,942 tonnes by preventing leakage by less than two per cent against national average leakage of 15 per cent.
The e-POS system introduced by Krishna District Collector Babu A won appreciation from all the states including Prime Minister’s office. The District Collector explained the functioning of e-POS system to Prime Minister’s office and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely recently. The District Collector also trained employees at Gujarat, Karnataka, Chattisgarh, Haryana and Uttaranchal on e-POS system.
In addition, the District Collector also introduced distribution of pensions at doorstep by linking Aadhaar and Jandhan Yojana to prevent misuse.
