Manyam Jatara a big hit with visitors

Maredumilli (East Godavari): The three-day tribal festival ‘Manyam Jatara’ which started at Maredumilli in East Godavari district on February 27, to develop the Agency as a tourism hub, evoked overwhelming response on the second day, as people in large numbers thronged the Vana Vihari’ Tourism Park at Maredumilli. The dance troupes from Paderu ITDA and Chintur enthralled the visitors with tribal kommu dance and Dhimsa dance. Visitors were seen taking selfies with tribal artistes.

The festival is aimed at improving tourism in this area and showcase the tribal culture which will be persevered in different ways for a long future. Tribals from all the ITDAs were invited to participate and exhibit their culture. Competitions were held for sports like archery and Kabaddi.

The stalls set up by the different departments at Vana Vihari forest recreation centre, reflecting the food habits, lifestyle, festivals, culture and traditions of tribals pulled huge crowds. Food items, products of GCC and different varieties of bamboo products were exhibited. The sweet ghee smell of Athreya Puram 'Putarekulu’ pulled the visitors to the sweet stalls, as they satiated their taste buds with the sweet savouries.
