Visakhapatnam: Strongly criticizing the Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham for his remarks in his letter to the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Kollu Ravindra came down heavily on Kapu leader alleging that he was trying to gain political mileage with the support of YSRCP supremo Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Ganta said Mudragada’s plans seem to be harming the Kapu community than doing any good. Setting aside all the allegations raised by Mudragada , Ganta said TDP government was committed for the welfare of the Kapus on all the fronts.

“I am surprised how Mudragada changed his tack. He praised Chief Minister a week ago and now alleges that Naidu is misleading Kapus,’’ Ganta added. Inclusion of Kapu Community in the list of Backward Classes is a sensitive issue in the State and TDP government has initiated scientific and systematic way to consider allocation of quota to Kapus in education and employment, Ganta added.

Regarding YS Jagan’s role, the Ministers said YSRCP Party will receive some more jolts in the very near future as leaders in that party have lost faith in Jagan and his leadership. The opposition leader has been facing political storm and to overcome it, he is fomenting caste-row by influencing Mudragada and others, the TD Ministers lamented.

Dismissing the allegations of Mudragada that only TDP activists of Kapu community are availing loans under Kapu Corporation, Ganta said that not only TD supporters of Kapus but also other party activists of the community were being benefited. He said so far over 32,000 of Kapus availed loan to the tune of Rs 192 crore and there are plans to allocate over Rs 500 crore to Kapu Corporation for the purpose of loans, he added.

Regarding the measures being taken by the government, both the Ministers said the Chief Minister has fulfilled the demands of Mudragada and reminded that the government had appointed Justice Manjunath committee to consider including Kapus on the BC list.

The committee will submit a report to the government on the matter shortly. Replying a question on Mudragada’s plans to launch fresh stir, Ganta said that the TD government will not be cowed down by threats.“Now we will negotiate with Mudragada,’’ the Ministers said.
