Hyderabad: Three persons have been arrested in Vijayawada on charges of abduction and murder of a 15-year-old boy from Shahinayatgunj for ransom. A massive hunt is underway to nab two more accused. The boy, Abhay, son of Raj Kumar, a scrap businessman from Shahinayath Gunj was abducted by unknown persons on Wednesday night, when the boy was on his way to get tiffin for his family members.

The boy was found dead, packed in a Sony TV carton box, near Secunderabad Railway Station late on Wednesday night. The boy’s hands were tied with a rope and his nose was stuffed with paper. The police have picked up the accused from Vijayawada on Thursday after tracing their mobile number. They were suspected to have left to Vijayawada from Hyderabad in Dakshin Express on Wednesday.

Abhay, who went out at around 7 pm, did not return for a long time. His father tried to contact him but Abhay’s phone was switched off and he lodged a complaint with the police. On verifying the CCTV footage, the police found the boy travelling as a pillion rider with an unknown person. After sometime, Raj Kumar’s younger sister received a call from the abductors demanding Rs 10 crore as ransom.

Meanwhile, Raj Kumar received another call from the abductors, bargaining to pay at least Rs 5 crore to release Abhay alive by Thursday morning. Before the police could trace the caller, the body of Abhay was found packed in a carton box, abandoned near Secunderabad Railway Station, said West Zone DCP A Venkateshwara Rao. Raj Kumar had confirmed that it was his son Abhay, who went missing.

The police said five suspects have been identified and three of them have been nabbed from Vijayawada before they could escape. The abductors are identified as the employees of Raj Kumar, who know well about the financial status of their owner.

They have killed the boy before they called Raj Kumar for the last time and abandoned Abhay’s body near railway station and left in Dakshin Express to Vijayawada. The body of Abhay was handed over to his family members after autopsy at Gandhi Hospital mortuary. The autopsy report said Abhay’s nose was filled with paper and he died due to suffocation.
