Nellore: YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy launched a scathing attack against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and accused the later of betraying people of the State. Coming down heavily on the TDP-led government, Jagan prophesised the party would lose deposits in the 2019 elections.

Welcoming Anam Vijayakumar Reddy and his son Karthik Reddy, into the party at a programme held here on Wednesday, Jagan said that qualities like character and credibility important for a good leader. Lambasting Naidu, Jagan said that the former backstabbed his father-in-law Late NT Rama Rao, which speaks volumes about his character. “He back tracked on the promises made to farmers, SHGs, youngsters, and various communities,” the opposition leader charged.

Launching a tirade against the ruling party, “They are choking the opposition and making them voiceless. They are buying our legislators by offering huge amounts earned through corruption. Despite the deceitful tactics of TDP, we will stand and fight for people,” Jagan said.

The YSRCP chief advised the CM to remember the promises during the polls. “It looks like Naidu is not accountable to voters after coming to power and is hell bent on buying legislators. The mighty British Empire and rule of Hitler vanished the moment, people started losing faith. It would be the repeat of the same in the State as the TDP government is hardly interested in the welfare of people and soon they will sink in Bay of Bengal,” he predicted.

Speaking on the occasion, Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy said that people aren’t oblivious to the happenings in the State. “TDP came into power because of internal issues within our party. This time around, we will make sure that we will hit them back strongly and show them their place,” he asserted.

Party general secretary N Prasannakumar Reddy accused media of mudslinging and said that some vernacular dailies are publishing stories with malicious intent. He criticised them for running baseless rumors without checking facts. Ongole MP SV Subbareddy, Tirupati MP Dr Varaprasada Rao, MLAs Pasam Suneel Kumar, K Sanjeevaiah, Gowtham Reddy, R Pratapkumar Reddy, Nellore deputy mayor M Dwarakanath, and other local leaders were also present.
