Hyderabad: Ahead of the launch of LED lighting programme by the Union government with a target to replace 77 crore conventional bulbs in the domestic sector and another 3.5 crore ordinary streetlights with LED’s in the country by 2018-19, a high-level delegation from the Union Ministry of Power is visiting Andhra Pradesh to study the successful implementation of LED lighting programme in March fourth week.

The delegation headed by Energy Efficiency Services Limited Managing Director Saurabh Kumar would hold a meeting with all officials of State Energy department on March 26. Achievement of distribution of over 1.85 crore LED bulbs and the AP government’s proposal for 100 per cent coverage which requires another 45 lakh LED bulbs to households would be discussed in detail in the meeting.The Centre has targeted to reduce power demand by 21,500 MW electricity worth Rs 40,000 crore per annum by saving energy through the LED lighting programme.
