Alur (Kurnool): Telugu Desam activists, led by TDP Assembly constituency incharge B Veerabhadra Goud, celebrated the 35th Formation Day of the party on a grand scale here on Tuesday. A bike rally was organised in the town to mark the occasion. About 1,000 TDP activists participated in the rally. Veerabhadra Goud hoisted the TDP flag at the R&B Guest House. Later, fruits and bread were distributed to patients in the government hospital.

Addressing a press conference, Veerabhadra Goud said many leaders were expected to join the TDP in the coming weeks from the YSR Congress Party and Congress attracted by the progressive ideology of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and his commitment to development of Andhra Pradesh. Underlining the need for construction of a project on Vedavathi river to provide better irrigation facility to the farm land in the constituency, he said Rs 4 crore was sanctioned for its survey when his brother and AP Water Resources Development Apex Committee member Kumar Goud took the matter to the notice of the Chief Minister. Steps were taken to augment drinking water supply in the town. The TDP set up 20 water kiosks in Alur to quench the thirst of people during the hot summer. Water is also being supplied to the problem-ridden areas through tankers. Emphasis was laid on effective implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to check migration of farm workers from the drought affected villages, he said.

Kumar Goud, mandal TDP convener Narayana Reddy, Mandal Parishad president Bangi Parisanna, Agricultural Marketing Committee Chairman B Ramanath Yadav and others were present at the news conference.

Formation Day celebrated
Kurnool: The 35th Formation Day of Telugu Desam was celebrated on a grand scale in the city on Tuesday. KE Pratap, brother of Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishnamurthy, hoisted the TDP flag and cut the cake as part of the celebrations. Speaking on the occasion, he reiterated the commitment of TDP Government to the economic uplift of the poor and downtrodden. He exhorted TDP activists to strengthen the hands of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in his endeavour to develop the State on all fronts.
