The angry groups pelted stones on each other and attacked each other with sticks. The local police, who are closely monitoring the law and order situation, have decided to deploy police pickets from Monday onwards. In all, 16 persons from two groups were apprehended and were sent for remand besides registering bind-over cases on three persons.

Narsipatnam RDO K Surya Rao visited the area on Tuesday and enquired about the situation in the colony. Though the present situation in the colony was tense, but it was under control. Local Sub-Inspector Satyanarayana informed that a man hunt has been launched to nab the persons responsible for the group clash based on the video footage.

When contacted, local MLA Vangalapudi Anitha said it was unfortunate that a clash was erupted at SC Colony and appealed to all the people to maintain restraint.
