Vijayawada: Transport Minister Sidda Raghava Rao instructed the officials of Roads & Buildings (R&B) and other departments concerned to speed up the construction works of the six-lane Kanaka Durga flyover to make it ready before Krishna Pushkaralu. During his inspection of the flyover casting yard at Durga Ghat on Tuesday, Raghava Rao said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu guided the officials to complete the 2.5-km-long flyover works by July 15 to clear the traffic congestion during the Krishna Pushkaralu.

The Chief Minister would inspect the works shortly and he was intent on its completion before the Pushkaralu get under way, he added. Later, the Minister conducted a review meeting with R&B officials of Vijayawada and Mangalagiri. Speaking on the occasion, Raghava Rao directed the chief engineers to submit a detailed report on the berms and jungle clearance of roads in a week.

He inquired about the status of 5,000 km roads under Panchayat Raj submitted to R&B and asked the officials to give jungle clearance and submit proposals for the renovation. He also directed the officials to prepare the techno-economic feasibility of straight road connecting Amaravati and Anantapur.

Chief Engineer Gangadharam, APRDC Managing Director Jagannatha Rao, Rural Roads Chief Engineer Venakta Reddy, NHAI Chief Engineer Gopala Krishna, Quality Control Chief Engineer Naga Raju and other officials accompanied the Minister on his visit.
