Andhra Pradesh State Cultural Affairs Department has celebrated Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College’s Annual celebrations in Vijayawada from Thursday to Saturday in the college auditorium.

On the inaugural day concerts of the students were performed. Vishnavi’s music concert was well received by the audience. Chavali Krishnamohan gave his support with the mridangam and Devaraj on Tabla after which a veena concert by S Sujatha followed. The veena concert was supported by S Prasad on mridangam and K Lakshmi Sankar on morsing.
The bet of the first day was a violin duo by Ganduri Srinivasa Rao and Gouravajhula Anjaneya Sastry, which was instrumentally supported by I Anjaneya Sastry on mridangam and K Lakshmi Sankar on moresing. The ragas like Hansadhwani, Shanmukhapriya, Mohana were fine tuned on violin by the duo. On this occasion noted violinist Gouravajhula Ramamohan Rao was felicitated by the Principal of the college.
The second day “World Dance day” was celebrated by the college in association with Amma Arts Academy on the same venue. The students of About 160 dancers pertaining to 14 dance masters of the city had participated in this event.
They performed Kuchpudi dance items like ‘Trisakthi Stotram’, compositions of Purandara Das, Saint Thyagaraj, ‘Satyabhama pravesa Daruvu’, ‘Tarangam’, ‘Ananda tandavam’, ‘Brahmanjali’, ‘Dasavataralu’ and keerthanas like ‘Bala kanaka mani chela’, ‘Onkara sakha’, ‘kalanku jananidhi’ etc.
On this occasion Pasumarthi Kesava Prasad was felicitated by the organisers. President, Sumadhura Kala Niketan Samanthapudi Narasa Raju, Kumara Suryanarayana, Managing Director, Model Dairy Pinnamaneni Dhanaprakash and others were participated on the World Dance Day.
The concluding day of the Annual celebrations there were presentations vocally, on the veena and on the violin. The programmes were coordinated by N Ch.
