Vijayawada: The ruling Telugu Desam Party leaders have pinned high hopes on the Central assistance to the State after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday. The TDP leaders claim that Naidu had successfully communicated the difficulties that the State is facing after bifurcation and the need to extend helping hand for the State.
- Claims that the Chief Minister had successfully presented the State’s requirements before the PM and the latter responded positively
- Senior TDP leader and MLC Buddha Venkanna alleges that a section of the BJP leaders from the State are sold out to Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy
However, while claiming that the Chief Minister had successfully presented the State’s requirement before the Prime Minister and the latter had responded positively, the TDP leaders took strong exception to the statements of the BJP leaders against the State government. The TDP leaders see that the BJP is violating the principle of alliance and felt that the party national leadership should keep a check on it.
TDP senior leader and MLC Buddha Venkanna was even more vociferous in countering the BJP’s criticism against the TDP government. Referring to the criticism of BJP MLC Somu Veerraju on the State government, the TDP leader sought to advise the BJP leader to restrain from leading false campaign against the government.
He said that Veerraju had become an MLC at the mercy of the TDP and had no right to point an accusing finger at the TDP or the Chief Minister.
He further alleged that a section of the BJP leaders from the State were sold out to Opposition leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. “The way some of the BJP leaders from the State are speaking against the TDP and the government shows that these leaders are speaking for the YSR Congress. The statements of Jagan are same as the statements of some of the BJP leaders,” he said.
Stating that the Chief Minister was working hard to develop the State from the scratch, he wondered why the BJP leaders were causing hurdles to Naidu instead of supporting him.
He further said that the Chief Minister was taking international support to build the new capital Amaravati. Stating that several countries have come forward to help the State government, he wanted the BJP leaders from the State too to extend support.
The TDP MLC also appealed to the BJP central leadership to contain the party leaders from the State who were crossing the ‘Lakshman Rekha’ and criticising the government. He expressed confidence that the BJP national leaders would intervene and keep these leaders under check in the larger interests of the alliance.
