The Chief Minister said that the technology was available to make services more people-friendly. “All that you have to do is to use technology, programme your services at once. Then the technology would take care of the work,” he said. He added that the government started extending welfare schemes to the beneficiaries through e-services.
“Pensions, welfare benefits and even public distribution system are made online. The certificates are issued online. This would bring down the human interface,” he said. He further wanted the Collectors to make sure that the PDS is made online and the beneficiaries are contacted through their mobiles to receive the essentials at the PDS.
“There is no need for the beneficiary to stand in the queue for hours together. The Fair Price Shop dealer can send the time schedule to the beneficiary to the mobile using technology. This would create positive impact on the government,” the Chief Minister said.
Naidu said that the State was pushed to the last position in all sectors with the unjust bifurcation.
However, over the last two years, he was able to put the State on the track, he said and thanked the officials for their support.
He said that the State was showing an upward trend in the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) to the Gross Value Added (GVA) at basic prices during the last two years.
“The State had shown a double digit growth in the last year by improving performance using world’s best development models,” he said. Stating that the GSDP at the national level stood at 7.30 per cent during the last year, the Chief Minister proudly declared that the State had shown 10.50 per cent growth.
“In 2015-16, the GVA was recorded as Rs 4,55,484 crore of which Rs 2,12,391 crore was from the service sector, while Rs 1,21,915 crore was from the agriculture sector followed by industries sector with Rs 1,21,178 crore. The State recorded overall growth rate of 11.39 per cent during 2015-16 of which the service sector share was 11.13 per cent.
However, the growth rate in agriculture sector remained single digit during the year due to the prevailing drought conditions,” he added. The Chief Minister informed that Visakhapatnam district recorded first place among others in the State, in the per capita income, with Rs 1,40,648, while Srikakulam district stood at the lowest with Rs 74,638.
Naidu claimed that he introduced several reforms in the power sector and made the State power surplus in less than three months after he assumed office. This was possible in every sector provided the Collectors and other officials showed interest, he pointed out.
