​Amaravati: A delegation of the World Bank, comprising eight members, paid a visit to temporary Secretariat premises at Velagapudi and then headed to the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) office to enquire about the land pooling scheme on Thursday.

The World Bank officials sought information about how the CRDA would acquire 35,000 acres of land required for the capital construction. During the deliberations with CRDA director Chenna Kesavulu and another official Prabhakar Reddy, they asked as how the government was allotting plots to farmers under the land pooling scheme.

The CRDA officials also explained to them about laying of roads, providing drinking water supply, and power supply to the temporary Secretariat, and widening of roads for the smooth flow of traffic.

It may be mentioned here that CRDA is seeking a loan of Rs 6,200 crore from the World Bank for the construction of capital, for which the Central government had already given its nod.

CRDA director Chennakesavulu said that the World Bank team had expressed satisfaction over land pooling and other development works taken up by the government.
