District Collector Vijay Mohan directs CRPs, Vidya Volunteers to make efforts to enroll dropouts in government schools
Kurnool: District Collector Ch Vijay Mohan gave a call to Community Resource Persons (CRPs) and Vidya Volunteers to strive hard for achieving 100 per cent literacy in the district. Vijay Mohan participated in the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) meeting held at Sunaina Auditorium here on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the district yet to achieve 100 per cent literacy rate even after 50 years of independence. The CRPs along with the Vidya Volunteers have to play a vital role in improving the literacy ratio, he said.
He exhorted them to halt at the gram panchyats during night time and talk to the parents for sending their children to schools. The CRPs should take up door-to-door visit to admit students in government schools, he stated adding a CRP would be allotted a gram panchyat for achieving the target. Each CRP has to educate the parents prior to the enrolment of their children in schools. The CRPs should know the reasons behind the dropout of school children, he said. The Collector said most of the dropouts are girl students as schools lack adequate facilities. He directed CRPs to join dropout girl students in the KGBV schools where good facilities are available for them.
Vijay Mohan said that 100 per cent enrolment mission is only possible when the parents are convinced by the CRPs. He expressed his displeasure over the poor literacy rate in the district. Education for all should become the prime agenda of the Education department, he said.
In the initial stage, around 247 gram panchyats would be allotted for achieving the specified literacy rate. He warned to remove the negligent CRPs from services and at the same time stringent action would be initiated over the reckless staff.
The Collector demanded an explanation over less than 50 per cent literacy rate in Pagidiyala, Jupad Bunglow, Uyyalavada, Sanjamala, Midthur, Dornipadu and Pamulapadu mandals. He warned to initiate stringent action if the progress is not found in the review meeting to be held after 15 days. DEO Ravindranath Reddy and SSA PO Ramachandra Reddy were also present.
