- Only TDP members are being considered for new housing scheme
Emerging out of the day-long meeting, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy alleged that the two parties have made several promises to the people at the time of 2014 elections. He recalled that the TDP had even submitted an affidavit to the EC assuring that it would fulfill every promise it was making to the people. He said that the Congress would also resubmit the TDP’s affidavit and seek action against the party by the EC for its failure to stand by the manifesto and affidavit.
Raghuveera Reddy said that the party would take up a survey on the election promises of the two parties from the village ward level and collect the data. The party would then take the data to the EC, he said. The coordination committee had also reviewed the implementation of the welfare schemes in the State by the TDP government and alleged that the government was discriminating people on the basis of their political affiliation.
The APCC president alleged that the government had cancelled the ration cards, pensions and other benefits for the people in large numbers. He further said that the government was also not considering the names of the people who are not with the TDP for the new housing scheme. The Congress would also conduct a survey at the grassroots and prepare a list of the irregularities of the government, he said.
Referring to the claims of Chandrababu Naidu to be in power till 2050, the APCC president said that the TDP was voted for power till 2019 and sought to advice the TDP chief not to indulge in day dreaming. “We have not changed the Constitution to keep a party in power for more than five years.
The party that was voted to power in 2014 has to seek fresh mandate in 2019 and he can’t day dream of sitting in power for more than that period,” Raghuveera Reddy asserted. Earlier, AICC general secretary Tiruvanakkarasu, senior leaders K V P Ramachandra Rao, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy, M M Pallam Raju, Killi Kriparani, Panabaka Lakshmi, J D Seelam, Koppula Raju, C Ramachandraiah, Devineni Rajasekhar Nehru, N Tulasi Reddy and other leaders were present at the coordination committee meeting.
