A government order on Thursday said that the Commissioner and Director of the Municipal Administration, Commissioner of Agriculture, MDs of Markfed, Mempma and SERP and the Registrar of Cooperative Societies would be the members of the committee. The Managing Director of the Swachh Andhra Corporation would be the member-convener of the committee.

Following a communication from the Department of Fertilisers of the Union government, these steps were taken to ensure effective utilisation of MSW for more productive use. To provide market development assistance in the form of financial support, an amount of Rs1,500 per tonne of city compost will be released for scaling up the production and consumption.

Initially, the compost marketing and production would be taken through the Nagarjuna Fertilisers Corporation Limited in the State and in due course compost manufacturers and other marketing entities would be included by the State government for approval of the Union government.
