The local office of  CBI  registered a case against Botsa Peda Rama Rao, sub-postmaster of  Donkinavalasa and Uttaravilli area in Vizianagaram district, for misappropriating Rs 37 lakh,  on Friday.

Visakhapatnam: The local office of CBI registered a case against Botsa Peda Rama Rao, sub-postmaster of Donkinavalasa and Uttaravilli area in Vizianagaram district, for misappropriating Rs 37 lakh, on Friday. The CBI officials said that during the period between 2013 and 2015, Rama Rao misappropriated an amount of Rs 37 lakhs which were to be given as wages to the beneficiaries under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme.

Rama Rao received Rs 41.1 lakh from the Head Post Office, Bobbili to give wages to all the beneficiaries under MGNREG Scheme, but he distributed only Rs 4.1 lakh and misappropriated the remaining amount of Rs 37 lakh. After registration of the case, searches were conducted at the residential premises of Rama Rao at Sativada and Gara areas in Srikakulam district and Muralinagar area in Visakhapatnam city.
