Temporary employees’ regularisation demanded

Tirupati: All Universities Employees and Workers Union (AUEWU) demanded the government to regularise the time scale, daily wage and consolidated employees in the universities.

The AUEWU two- day State conference, which concluded here on Sunday, adopted six resolutions, including the regularisation of the services of time scale, daily wage and consolidated employees working in the universities.

Briefing newsmen on resolutions adopted in the two day meet, AUEWU general secretary AV Nageswar Rao demanded the government to extend immediately all the facilities including PF and ESI on par with regular employees to these non-permanent employees till their services were regularised and also fixation of their basic pay as per the 10th PRC.

The other resolutions adopted in the meet include extending HRA, CCA, cadre wise scale and leave facilities to the time scale employees working in agriculture, veterinary and horticulture universities and Rs 5 lakh as retirement benefit to any employee irrespective of his cadre and relief amount of Rs 5 lakh to any employee died while in service.

He said the conference also opposed the government allowing foreign and private universities and also wanted the government to give up the move to privatise the education sector and also withdraw the amendments in the Labour Act.

Rao said that in the election held in the 4th State conference a 39-member State Committee, including 19 office bearers and 20 State committee members, were elected. KS Koteswar Rao (Andhra University) was elected as president, K Bhanu Prasad (Nagarjuna) working president and AV Nageswar Rao (general secretary).
