Vijayawada: The coronation day of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj (6-6-1674) as per Hindu calendar was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in the city on Saturday. The Hindu Samrajya Dinotsavam celebrations were held under the aegis of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Madhava Nagar unit. A colourful procession was taken out in the city to mark the occasion.
A boy dressed up as the great Maratha King rode a horse in the procession. Little girls in colourful attires performed Kolatam. BJP city president D Umamaheswara Raju, State executive members V Satyamurthy, A Krishna Prasad, R Sivakrishna, R Mutyala Rao, Vyjayanthimala and RSS activists took part in the celebrations.
