Kurnool: Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishna Murthy urged the Union government to release sufficient funds for the development of the State at a meeting at the party office here on Sunday.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Telugu Desam is striving to restore the lost glory of Kurnool. Nine promises out of 15 have been fulfilled which were made on the occasion of Independence Day by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. The State government is granting funds for making Kurnool a Smart City, he said.

The Deputy Chief Minister expressed his dismay over the Union government leaders for denying Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

A six-lane road connecting Chittoor from Kurnool has almost nearing completion, he said. The government is also striving to set up a steel plant in Kadapa.
