Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao on Saturday dismissed a petition filed by the Opposition YSR Congress Party seeking disqualification of 13 of its members who had migrated to the ruling TDP recently. The application was dismissed on the grounds that the petition submitted by the YSRCP was not in the proper format as per the constitutional provisions.

It may be mentioned here that so far 20 members of the YSRCP had joined the TDP. However, reacting to the decision, the YSRCP claimed that it had submitted two sets of petitions to the Speaker seeking disqualification and the Speaker had dismissed only one of the two.

They had submitted the second set after they had realized that it was not in proper format. As the first petition was not given in a proper format, the party had submitted its second petition in a proper format but the Speaker had ignored its second petition, the party alleged. The YSRCP had already knocked the doors of the apex court demanding that the turncoats be disqualified.
