Speaking to the media after inspecting works at the project site, Naidu said the Centre was considering allocation of funds for the project through NABARD.

Naidu said that the State government was committed to complete Polavaram project after receiving funds from any source. He mentioned that the State government would provide the best package for the displaced families under the project.

Later, speaking at a review meeting with Ministers, higher officials and contractors concerned at the project site, Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to expedite the Polavaram project works and also directed the contractors to complete key works like Earth Rock fill Dam, power house, and Earth dam in stipulated time.

Stressing the need to take up earth work to the tune of 2.5 lakh cubic metres per day to complete the project in time, he directed the officials to bring required machinery to complete earth works in time. He explained that already works worth Rs 10,000 crore have been completed whereas the total expenditure required for the project is Rs 40,000 crore.

He instructed the officials to complete the works of Polavaram Right Main canal and Left Main Canal taken up in different packages by March, 2017. He asked the officials to put the contractors in blacklist, if any of them failed to start works pertaining to 22 selected packages.

He made it clear that projects works with regard to Thadipudi and Chintalapudi projects should be completed in time. He called upon the officials and the contractors to complete 35 lakh cubic metres of concrete works by the end of October and he stressed the need to double the machinery at the site. He mentioned that the project works would be reviewed every week.
