The traffic would be reduced at One Town area if the ongoing construction of Kanaka Durga flyover and inner ring road is completed. 

Vijayawada: All-party meeting demanded that the State government should withdraw plans of widening T P Road from Chittinagar to Milk Project at One Town area as the inhabitants of the area had already lost their properties in the previous extensions.

Addressing a public meeting at Nagarala Kalyana Mandapam in Chittinagar on Friday, CPI City secretary Donepudi Shankar said that there was no necessity to widen the road from Chittinagar to Milk Project area in the name of traffic problems. The traffic would be reduced at One Town area if the ongoing construction of Kanaka Durga flyover and inner ring road is completed.

It seems that the State government is going aggressively in the name of development of the city with no proper plans,” he said. “Left parties will agitate for the protection of people’s rights and properties if the State government goes ahead with its plans,” he warned.

CPM City secretary Donepudi Kasinath remarked that the State government was damaging the city in the name Krishna Pushkarams. Temples, houses of common people and thousands of big trees along roadside was razed by the government authorities. “It is clearly destruction of the historical city by the Chandrababu Naidu’s government,” he lamented.

Congress party city leader R Narendra said the government should go ahead on any issue in the city only after taking opinion of the citizens. YSR Congress leader K Rambabu, BJP leader B Siva Kumar Patnayak, BC Welfare Organisation leader P Mahesh, Houses Protection Committee leader V Srinivas and some other leader and local people took part in the meeting.
