Divisional postal superintendent Mohammad Azmatullah called upon people to make use of financial security schemes being implemented by the Central government.
Rajamahendravaram: Divisional postal superintendent Mohammad Azmatullah called upon people to make use of financial security schemes being implemented by the Central government.
Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Azmatullah said “We are leaving no stone unturned in educating people about the advantages of the schemes.” He said that the Central government’s schemes have been receiving overwhelming response.
He explained that the Central government had introduced Atal Pension Yojana (APY) as a safety net for workers in the informal sector. He said that the scheme is open to anyone aged between 18 and 40 and would provide monthly pension to subscribers from the age of 60.
He said the monthly contribution is modest — from a low of Rs 42 a month for an 18-year-old desiring a pension of Rs 1,000, to a maximum of Rs 1,454 a month for a 40-year-old seeking Rs 5,000 as monthly pension.
He said Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) are intended to cover daily wage labourers. He explained that the schemes would provide accidental insurance worth Rs 2 lakh at Rs 12 per annum, and life insurance worth Rs 2 lakh at Rs 330 per annum respectively.
However, they are also open to all SB account holders irrespective of their economic status, he added.
Azmatullah said ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana’ (girl child prosperity scheme) is a small deposit scheme for girl child launched as part of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign.
He said an account can be opened at any time from the birth of a girl till she attains the age of 10 years, with a minimum deposit of Rs 1,000 in any post office or authorised branches of commercial banks.
The subsequent deposit should be in multiples of Rs 100, he explained. He said for more details one can visit atalpensionyojana.com and www.indiapost.gov.in.
