MP and Board of Cricket Control in India Vice-President Gokaraju Gangaraju on Sunday inaugurated Ghanta Sanjeeva Reddy first Inter-district Master Aquatic Championship -2016 at NTR Municipal Corporation Swimming Pool at Pattabhipuram in Guntur on Sunday.

Amaravati: MP and Board of Cricket Control in India Vice-President Gokaraju Gangaraju on Sunday inaugurated Ghanta Sanjeeva Reddy first Inter-district Master Aquatic Championship -2016 at NTR Municipal Corporation Swimming Pool at Pattabhipuram in Guntur on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said swimming improves self-confidence and useful for health. He said that swimming was best exercise and appealed to the youth to make it a habit. He said that the aquatic association was imparting training to 250 persons and conducting competitions in Vijayawada. He said that he would develop a cricket stadium in 30 acres in Tirupati and added the land was being readied. He said that though he was BCCI Vice-President, he would encourage all sports.

MLC Gali Krishnam Naidu urged Gokaraju Ganga Raju to develop cricket stadium in Tirupati for conducting cricket matches. He stressed on the need to make swimming a habit for better health. He reminded that the stadium constructed by the Congress government for Common Wealth Games was in a dilapidated condition.

MLC Modugula Venugopala Reddy assured that he would try to construct another swimming pool in Guntur West Assembly Constituency to encourage swimming. He appreciated the organisers for conducting State-level swimming competitions in Guntur for the first time.

Later, Gokarju GangaRaju distributed prizes to the winners.
