Harassment drives girl to end life
In the complaint to Madanapalle rural police, the victim’s parents Venkataramana and Ramanamma said that G Venkata Narayana (21) had been harassing their daughter since four months which ultimately forced her to end her life.
Madanapalle (Chittoor): An 18-year-old girl Roja committed suicide allegedly, unable to bear the harassment of a youth, in the house of her relative in Krishnapuram village in Punganur mandal on Saturday.Roja, who attempted suicide by consuming poisonous substance, was admitted in Madanapalle Government Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.
In the complaint to Madanapalle rural police, the victim’s parents Venkataramana and Ramanamma said that G Venkata Narayana (21) had been harassing their daughter since four months which ultimately forced her to end her life.
The family is living in Palamkonda village in Madanapalle rural mandal and the accused youth also from the same village. Venkataramana alleged that the youth did not stop stalking and harassing his daughter even after several warnings and even attacked his son Gangadhar when he told him to stop stalking his sister, forcing the family shift her to the relative’s house in Punganur mandal.
But, the accused along with his friends went there too and continued his harassment. Unable to find way to escape from the youth, she resorted to the extreme step of ending her life by consuming poisonous substance, the parents said. Police registered a case and took up investigation.
