​Nellore: R Mutyala Raju took charge as District Collector at the Collectorate here on Monday. Earlier, he served as Chairman and Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL).

After taking charge, the Collector has participated in weekly grievance meet and accepted petitions from people. He also reviewed with officials about ongoing social welfare schemes and development works in the district.

Mutyala Raju said performance of the officials would be reviewed every week based on the number of grievances resolved. He exhorted officials to put in team work for achieving good results.

He said officials should not confine themselves to their jurisdiction and asked them to reach out to the poor and needy in rural areas.

He stated that at least 20 per cent of motivation would lead to 100 per cent efficiency in implementation of welfare schemes and asked them to be self-starters for serving the people.

The Collector instructed officials concerned to ensure that 10 lakh saplings were planted on July 29 in the district.

He asked officials to strive for the success of plantation drive. He gave instructions to the officials of the Education departmen to conduct elocution and essay writing competitions for students on Vana Manam for creating awareness among them.

Additional Joint Collector RS Rajkumar, Divisional Forest Officer PS Raghavaiah, DFO (Social Forestry) Chankya Raju, District Water Management Agency Project Director Haritha, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Ramireddy, Integrated Tribal Development Agency Project Officer Kamala Kumari, Integrated Child Development Services Project Director Vidyavathi and others were present.
