As part of the Durga flyover works, the Krishna district administration demolished police quarters located in front of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday.
Vijayawada: As part of the Durga flyover works, the Krishna district administration demolished police quarters located in front of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Monday.
The police quarters was constructed more than 20 years ago. The police staff and families have been living for many years.
These police quarters are hurdle for the construction of flyover, which connect the Kummaripalem junction to Rajiv Gandhi Park.
Earlier, the district administration demolished the irrigation office and irrigation quarters in the same area.
So far, more than 100 houses or structures were demolished for construction of the flyover in Kummaripalem and near the VMC office.
The district administration is also taking the land belonging to Rajiv Gandhi Park for construction of the flyover.
Traffic problem at the Durga temple junction will be resolved with the construction of the four-lane bridge from Kummaripalem junction to Rajiv Gandhi park passing over Krishna river.
The bridge works gained momentum upstream of Prakasam barrage but will not be completed before Krishna Pushkaralu.
The bridge works downstream of Prakasam barrage are going on at a slow pace near the VMC office.
