The collector said the government decided to concentrate on encouraging the organic cultivation in the State and directed the agriculture department officials to encourage organic cultivation in the district. “At present about 812 farmers are taking up organic cultivation in 1,150 acres. The will be sanctioned 300 cows with a subsidy of Rs 10,000,” he informed.
Eluru:Organic cultivation would be taken up in 3,000 acres across the district in this crop year, said West Godavari collector K Bhaskar. He reviewed the progress of priority sectors like agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry at a meeting held in Collectorate on Wednesday.

He ordered the officials to set up the 50 organic fertiliser shops to supply the required fertilisers to the farmers. He asked them to set up customer centres in each mandal to supply necessary equipment.
The collector directed agriculture officials to supply fertilisers, pesticides to farmers through E-POS system from August 10. He asked the officials to upload the stock details online by August 8 and ordered officials to ensure the supply of fertilisers to farmers.
Bhaskar fumed at officials over setting up of Rythu Bazaar beyond the reach of the villagers in Chintalapudi. He directed additional joint collector MH Sheriff to inspect the site and asked the officials to shift the Rythu Bazaars near to the village.
Chief Planning Officer T Suresh Kumar, joint director of agriculture department Y Sai Lakshmeswari, district manager of lead bank M Subrahmanyeswara Rao and others participated in the review meeting.
