YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy who met President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday to discuss the issue regarding the Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh stated that it has assumed a greater significance with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill approval in Parliament.

Stating that the special status is inevitable for AP as the new bill is coming into force, YS Jagan said the investment flow will have an affect with the GST as the state can't attract investments and compete with other developed states without any proper infrastructure.

The YSRCP leader further said that AP won't be able to attract investments to generate more jobs unless special status is accorded as the state can’t offer any tax incentive to any company due to GST.

YS Jagan stated that the party won't compromise on the issue until the status is achieved regardless of the time it takes, they would continue to fight.
