Visakhapatnam: Honorary doctorates would be conferred on former Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India S Rajendra Babu, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) former Director General Prof Nirmal Kumar Ganguly and music maestro Ilayaraja at the seventh convocation of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management University (GITAM) to be held here on August 20.
GITAM University would also be honouring Secretary in Ministry of Earth Sciences, Dr Madhavan Nair Rajeevan, with honorary Doctor of Science degree. Dr Madhavan Nair Rajeevan would be delivering the convocation address. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, GITAM University Vice-Chancellor Prof M S Prasada Rao said that 13 gold medals and 50 first ranks in the above disciplines would be presented to the merit students.
In all, 2,625 graduates will be awarded degrees in graduation and post graduation and 35 PhDs in engineering, management, science, pharmacy, architecture and international business courses. Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivarama Krishna, Registrar Prof M Potharaju and others participated in the press conference.
