On an average, the solar unit is expected to generate 6000 units of power per month. AP Pollution Control Board, East Godavari executive engineer (EE), D Ravindra Babu said the organisation expects to save 200 units of power per day through the solar unit. 

Kakinada: Pollution Control Board (PCB) in Kakinada became the first public sector unit in the city to take to solar power for promotion of clean and renewable energy. 50KW solar equipment was installed in the organisation a few days ago at a cost of Rs 40 lakh. MNRE and NREDCAP will subsidise 50 percent of the cost.

Excess power will be transmitted to APEPDCL through net-metering system, he said. NREDCAP district manager G Satyanarayana said they have taken up solar installations to Anganwadi centres in East Godavari agency on a pilot basis.
