Visakhapatnam: The quality circle teams of Vizag Steel Plant have bagged gold medals at the International Convention on quality control circles being organised by the Association of Quality Circles Headquarters of Thailand in Bangkok from August 23 to 26.

Three quality circle teams and two Kaizen teams have brought laurels to the RINL by annexing gold medals, the highest award of the convention. Quality Circle (QC) teams and delegates from India, Thailand, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Bangladesh, Taiwan and Sri Lanka were participating in the international convention.

The QC team-Moksha of Wire and Rod Mill comprising D Madhava Rao, M Arun Venkata Reddy, P Raju, M Satya Rao, G Kunchayya, N Trimurthy and P Narsinga Rao presented their case study on ‘Modification of furnace discharging side doors operation’.

The second QC team-Tarun of Steel PEM department comprising B Ravi Varma, R Marudra Rao, Ch V Satyanarayana, R Haranath, V V Ramana, M Appalaraju and S Bapi Raju presented their case study on ‘Oil drain line modification in Coke Oven Exhaust Motor’.

The third QC team-Saraleekaran of Blast Furnace wing comprising M V N Prithviraj, Shaik Raja, M Srikanth, R Rama Rao, K V V M A N Varma, S M Vishnu Murthy and G V S S Giridhar presented a case study on ‘Modification of limit unit of Bell-less Top Secondary Equalising valve in Blast Furnace’.
