Penukonda: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu took at the opposition parties, YSRCP in particular, for opposing every good work initiated by the TDP government. Addressing a public meeting at Peddamanchuru village here on Tuesday, Naidu described YSRCP as a wicked and evil party, which opposed linkage of rivers, capital Amaravati and Galeru-Nagari irrigation project. He also flayed the Congress party and called it as the party, which people rejected.

While describing a host of developmental programmes initiated by the government, Naidu asked the people whether they require any other party to govern the State. He said that the Congress and the YSRCP have become irrelevant. Stating that Anantapur district was dear to late NTR, he vowed to make the district prosperous by bringing every acre of land under cultivation. He recalled the days, when he launched Padayatra and promised to waive all farm loans.

“Telangana with surplus budget waived farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh, while the TDP government despite financial constraints is waving up to Rs1.50 lakh. We have launched Panta Sanjeevani scheme and soak pits program to tackle drought,” he said.

The Chief Minister announced that he would stay in the district for the next couple of days and monitor the crop rescue operations. He also promised to bring Krishna water through Handri-Neeva and Galeru-Nagari projects. Naidu wanted the district to a ground nut export hub.

“We have spent Rs1,800 crore on Polavaram project but the Central government is yet to release substantial funds for the project. I am using the latest technology to monitor development in the State. Using the state-of-the-art technology, I will be able to know how many rain guns are pressed into service and to what extent they were able to wet the dry crops,” he said.

Naidu predicted that a day would come where an average citizen would be able to get all things done using cell phone. “One need not go to any government office,” he remarked. The Chief Minister arrived 3 hours behind the schedule. Immediately after alighting from the helicopter, he left to Ganapathipally village in Parigi mandal and interacted with the farmers.
