Nellore: District Collector R Mutyala Raju directed the officials to focus on preventing child labour in all residential complexes and also in commercial organisations. He held a review meeting with the members of district-level task force committee at the Collector’s bungalow here on Thursday.

Addressing the members, the Collector said data of child labourers has to be collected besides booking cases against violators. The district official directed members to provide rehabilitation to the victimised children and conduct awareness sessions on controlling child labour.

He also instructed the officials to conduct surprise raids in apartments, hotels and other commercial places for booking cases against those who engage children for labour work.

He further asked them to arrange temporary shelters for rehabilitation of the rescued children. He distributed cheques worth Rs 16.24 lakh to the victimised families during the meeting. Deputy Commissioner of Labour Srinivasa Rao explained that 117 child labourers have been identified in the district. Additional Joint Collector RS Rajkumar, ICDS Project Director Vidyavathi and others were present.

Distribute farm loans by Oct 15, bankers told District Collector Mutyala Raju asked the bankers to distribute agriculture loans to the farmers by October 15. He addressed a district-level bankers’ meet at Golden Jubilee Hall here on Thursday.

He said loans are beneficial for farmers during initial days of the season as cultivation starts in October. He asked the Agriculture department to coordinate with the bankers for timely sanction of loans. He directed the Joint Director of Agriculture to monitor the activity.
