Visakhapatnam: The Eastern Naval Command heaped praises on teachers of 14 CBSE affiliated schools for their hard work and dedication.The ‘Best in Academics Trophy’ to the best performing school in X and XII Board exams for the academic year 2015-16 was awarded to Naval Children School, Visakhapatnam.

Vice-Admiral HCS Bisht, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, awarded the rolling trophy to Dr Parul Kumar principal, Navy Children School and cash prizes to principals of the Navy Children Schools.

While addressing the teachers here on Wednesday, Vice-Admiral Bisht emphasised the responsibilities of teachers in inculcating knowledge and kindling curiosity amongst the students which are essential for their all-round development.

He further stated that the best investment that the nation makes in development of its human capital and nation building is that on teachers. A teacher’s role has transformed into one that is all encompassing; an instructor, friend, role model, confidant, philosopher and guide, the Vice-Admiral said and emphasised that emotional intelligence and not IQ, determines the success of an individual in both personal and professional life.

The seeds of emotional intelligence are sown at the school through what the children learn and experience in handling their day to day situations. Furthermore, he urged the teachers to develop and implement innovative ideas to handle stress among students. The ENC chief congratulated all the teachers on the commendable work that they are doing to steer the children in the right direction.
