It is learnta that Nandigama MLA Thangirala Sowmya has been admitted to Andhra hospitals and diagnosed that she was suffering from viral fever. The patients are taking treatment in corporate and private hospitals in the city. Dengue, typhoid, malaria and other viral fevers are common due to change in climatic conditions. The government hospitals, too, are flooded with a large number of patients.
Vijayawada: Viral fevers are rampant in different parts of Krishna district, while private hospitals are flooded with patients suffering from viral fevers. The district health officials are planning to control the viral fevers. The people residing in suburbs and rural areas are affected more than the urban population.

The government hospitals, too, are flooded with a large number of patients.
District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) R Nagamalleswari said that 860 cases of viral fevers have been recorded this year till date. Over 350 of them have symptoms of Dengue and over 400 people are confirmed with malaria.
She further stated that 60 cases of dengue are registered and have been undergoing the treatment. Seven people in the city and four others in the suburbs have died of dengue.
She further stated that the government is conducting a door-to-door service in rural areas of the district to serve patients. The health and medical department is also taking care in maintaining the required amount of drugs to overcome the shortage.
Regional Medical Officer Dr Bhavani Shankar said that the government hospital is maintaining sufficient beds for patients. The hospital has allotted over 50 beds and 12 acute caring units to the viral fever patients.
A senior physician of GGH Dr Padma said that some precautions are to be taken in monsoons to avoid viral fevers. Use boiled and filtered water for drinking and should keep the surrounding clean to avoid mosquitoes.She further suggested to the people to consume more fluids like coconut water and fruit juice if affected with viral fever.
