Vijayawada: City is lagging behind in conducting Smart Pulse socio-economic survey. Though it was launched two months ago, it
completed only 25 percent. In spite of receiving frequent warnings from district administration to enumerators, there is no progress
recorded towards the completion of the survey.

The State government launched the Smart Pulse survey on July 8 and about 1,860 enumerators were drafted to conduct the socio-
economic survey in Krishna district.

The district administration is reviewing the work done by the enumerators for every 48 hours, but the result is very poor in some mandals
of Krishna district including Vijayawada urban, G Konduru, Chandaralpadu, Jaggaiahpet, Nandigama, Gannavaram and Penamaluru.

An official said that some enumerators were not conducting survey citing technical reasons and some others even did not go to the field.
During a videoconference on Wednesday, Municipal Commissioner G Veera Pandian expressed displeasure over snail’s pace of survey in
the city.

He said the Krishna district recorded low percentage due to poor performance in conducting survey in Vijayawada city.

He allotted three officers for each circle in the city to supervise the survey and 45 enumerators to collect the details from every home. He
expressed displeasure over the performance of the supervisors stating that the latter had failed to motivate enumerators. The
Commissioner asked officials to take measures for early completion of the survey as only 25 percent of enumerators were on field till
now. He also instructed officials to submit report on their work on hourly basis.
