According to coach and PET at Yerrajeruvupalli Zilla Parishad High School in Puthalapattu mandal Surendrababu,  for the first time as many as seven girls were among the medal winners from the district. 

Tirupati: Chittoor district bagged 12 medals, including two gold, two silver and eight bronze in the State-level boxing competitions, held in Bhimavaram recently (from September 24 to 26).

According to coach and PET at Yerrajeruvupalli Zilla Parishad High School in Puthalapattu mandal Surendrababu, for the first time as many as seven girls were among the medal winners from the district.

In a press release here on Thursday, he said Srinikhil, a student of Emerald Junior College, here won gold medal in 91+ kg category, while K Pavan Kalyan, a student of GATE College also in the city, bagged gold medal in 81 kg category.

Srinikhil, earlier also won gold medals four times in the State-level under 16 boxing competitions. Srinikhil and Pawan Kalyan by winning the gold medals were selected for the national boxing competition to be held in New Delhi in January next year.

While K Hemalatha, a student of TTD Padmavathi Junior College, in 52 kg category and P Jaya in 66 kg category won silver medals.The other medal winners include Srinandan Reddy (Sicom Junior College) in 57 kg category, M Subramanayam ( SV Defence Academy) 60 kg category, K Harish 66 kg category, K Kavitha (SPW Junior College) 48kg category, T Ramya, 57 kg category, S Chandana 60 kg category, P Navya (Emerald College) 54 kg category and K Sravanthi (Chandragiri Junior College) 75 category won bronze medals bringing laurels to the district.
