,Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu unveiled the statue of former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam at a park developed by a research scholar of HRM department D Atchemnaidu with his own funds near Andhra University Arts College here on Thursday.After unveiling the statue, the Chief Minister complimented the scholar and Andhra University authorities for developing the park to inspire others. Later, he also launched water conservation pits near Andhra University Convocation Hall.

Vice-Chancellor Prof G Nageswara Rao told the Chief Minister that a sum of Rs 1.5 crore was received by the Andhra University from Science and Technology wing for the development of underground water table. As many as 260 pits, three check-dams and other infrastructure will be provided with this amount on the campus to help conserve rain water, he added. Ministers Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Ch Ayyanna Patrudu, K Atchannaidu, registrar Prof V Umamaheswara Rao and Andhra University chief engineer G M Madhava Babu were present.
