Ongole: The Congress party leaders blame Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for using the government mechanism for his party benefits.

Speaking at the DCC office here on Wednesday, the PCC Chief N Raghuveera Reddy and Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council, C Ramachandraiah alleged that Chandrababu Naidu of using his capacity for TDP membership drives, curbing public agitations and involving officials in party programmes.

Raghuveera Reddy said, “The TDP is conducting the target based membership drive. I have reliable information that the party workers are collecting Rs 100 from the pensions of the poor and disabled, set target to ration shop dealers to collect the fund from each ration card holder and take Rs 100 from the hard-earned money of the coolies while paying them on MGNREGS job cards.

They are also collecting membership fees from the applicants of the CM Relief Fund. They linked every welfare scheme to the TDP membership drive to enroll one crore members this year” says PCC chief.

Reddy alleged that the government is using government officials for party programmes. “The party leaders are threatening the officials and police in the name of suspensions and ACB raids.

In the name of Jana Chaitanya Yatra, the party leaders are conducting openings, distributing welfare scheme benefits and transporting DWCRA women with the help of officials. We condemn the participation of officials in the party meetings and request them to stay away from those meetings, he added.

C Ramachandraiah said that the CM is looting public money. “The people of the State are smart and alert so there is no need for TDP conduct Jana Chaitanya Yatra.

The government is spending lavishly in the name of festivals and programmes and neglecting the common man. He borrowed Rs 40,000 crore loan to the State, but no sight of development yet” he lamented.
