Nellore: The Medical Council of India denied permission for 150 seats to AC Subba Reddy Government Medical College for the academic year 2017-18, citing the reason that the college lacks infrastructure and adequate teaching faculty.

The MCI stated that college did not meet requisite standards during the inspection. According to sources, the MCI team found that 25 professor posts and 45 assistant professor posts were lying vacant in the institution.

Poor outpatient turnout, inpatient admissions, shortage of nurses in the district headquarters hospital attached to the medical college, defective CT scan and X-ray machine; less number of investigations in microbiology and pathology wings. At present, 450 students are studying in the medical college.
