Tirupati: Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) will be holding a national-level talent festival for Sanskrit students from January 30 to February 2, on the occasion of 11th All India Sanskrit Students Talent Festival. Speaking to the media here on Saturday, RSVP Vice-Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma said that it is being organised with a noble idea of providing a platform to the Sanskrit students from all over the country to test their ability in various academic and cultural events.

He mentioned that 275 students from 25 Sanskrit institutions will be taking part in the festival. The VC stated that Sanskrit scholar and winner of President’s award Prof Viswanatha Gopalakrishna and also former principal of Gautami Vidyapeetham at Rajahmundry will inaugurate the festival. SV Vedic University Vice-Chancellor Prof K E Devanathan will be the chief guest, he added. He also said that inaugural function will be held at 10 am on January 30 at an open air auditorium in RSVP premises.

Sharma has informed competitions will be held for students in 13 academic and four cultural events. The VC further stated that he is personally supervising arrangements for smooth conduct of festival. He announced Prof Dr C Ranganathan of Sahitya department will be the coordinator for the festival. Winners will be given medals, cash prize and certificates, he stated. The VC mentioned that the RSVP is planning to start Yoga classes for city residents especially for diabetic patients in the evening for nominal fees.
