Tirupati: District Collector Siddarth Jain said that 106 Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) worth Rs 13,667 crore were signed for setting up various industries in the district in the recently concluded Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Summit at Visakhapatnam.

The Collector held a review meeting with entrepreneurs and industrialists at RDO office here on Tuesday, over industrial development.

Addressing the meeting, Jain said that investments will create 93,000 jobs to youth in the district and also boost industrial growth.

In 2016, ten corporate firms like Celkon and Greenply have set up their units in Sri City and generated employment to 5,000 in the district, the Collector stated.

Jain directed the officials to take up skill development programmes to both skilled and unskilled youth to enhance their employability.

Reviewing the progress of new industries which had commenced their operations in the last financial year, the Collector said the newly set up ceramic cluster in Thottambedu mandal is creating more than 1,500 jobs for unemployed youth.

He asked officials concerned not to delay in giving permits to new industrial units. “Clear all the pending applications through the single window counter at the earliest,” he added.

Sub Collector Nishanth Kumar, TUDA Vice-Chairman Vinay Chand, APIIC District Zonal Manager Nagaraj and other officials attended the meeting.
