Tirupati: Here is good news for the youth in the State. The Youth Services department has decided to construct Yuva Bhavans in all the district headquarters.
The department has earmarked Rs 5 crore for each Yuva Bhavan and already released Rs 2 crore to each CEO of district STEP society and the entire construction work should be completed within six months after tenders are finalised.
The district collectors were instructed to identify and earmark 2 acres of land in favour of the youth services department. As the Yuva Bhavans would be very useful for college students in particular, it was proposed to construct these in government educational institutions.
In seven districts land is already identified and in East Godavari and Chittoor districts it is about be finalised, whereas in the remaining four districts- Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, Krishna and Prakasam-there is no significant move yet.
These buildings are intended to be powered by solar energy and will be equipped with necessary infrastructure. Dormitory rooms to accommodate 50 males and 50 females will be there for temporary stay for youth and will be equipped with a small emergency medical centre.
Facilities for recreation, counselling, e-library and computer lab with internet will also be provided. Amenities to conduct various youth activities like forums /seminars/ workshops and youth related issues will be established.
An administrative block with receptions and office rooms would be built along with waiting lounge. The other infrastructure include conference/meeting hall for 100 people, yoga hall, gymnasium, indoor games, four rooms for resource persons/officers and one suite for senior officials coming from outside.
Amphi theatre or auditorium will add to the infrastructure. In Chittoor district three sites are under government consideration, one at Chittoor and the other two in Tirupati.
Already 2 acres of land belonging to PVKN government degree college was sanctioned and the college management passed a resolution to this effect.
