Chittoor/Tirupati: To propagate and facilitate the business development of the handicrafts, All India Handicrafts and Handlooms Exhibition is opened here on Friday. The AP Handicrafts Development Corporation (APHDC) is organising the exhibition at TTD Kalyanamandapam from February 24 to March 7.

APHDC Assistant Director DV Srinath inaugurated the exhibition. Speaking on the occasion, he urged people to buy handicraft items and clothes in a big way and encourage artisans. The official said that the corporation is taking measures for empowerment of artisans. Kondapalli toys, Etikoppaka toys, AP wood carvings, Hyderabad pearls, Bobbili Veena, Kalankari paintings, Jute bags and various types of saris are available for exhibition and sale.

APHDC Manager Devendra Kumar said that the prices of the handicraft items would be comparatively less than the articles available in the open market. He thanked TTD Executive Officer for letting out Kalyanamandapam at a nominal rent of Rs 1,500 per day. The managers of AP Handicrafts emporiums in Srinivasam and Vishnu Nivasam in Tirupati and other staff participated.
