Ongole: The Indian National Congress party conducted a public ballot in Ongole asking the public about their opinion about the special category status and implementation of poll promises by the Chandrababu Naidu government in the state. The former Rajyasabha MP JD Seelam participated in the programme on Monday and demanded the state and central government to keep the spirit of the constitution and provide an unbiased rule by them.

He demanded the governments provide the same benefits that the eleven special category states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are enjoying to Andhra Pradesh state. The Congress party leaders from Prakasam district took a rally from the Addanki bus stand to BR Ambedkar statue opposite HCM Junior college in Ongole on Monday afternoon and collected the votes from the public as part of the public ballot.

JD Seelam said, “We have conducted the public ballot to know about the public opinion on the special category status and Chandrababu’s commitment to implementation of poll promises.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised the special category status in the Tirupati election meeting as a candidate for prime minister. But he forgot the promise and gone back implementing the bifurcation act. The state and central governments are projecting the Congress party as the sole responsible for the state bifurcation, but conveniently neglecting that all parties have given consented for it.

We demand the central government to announce special category status but not the special package which does not speak about sharing the burden on the state, advances for external area projects, special central assistance and other benefits. So demand the central government to announce the special category status and same benefits which the 11 states are enjoying. On the other side, Chandrababu Naidu made 600 plus promises to the public in the state.

We are demanding him to implement all promises irrespective of the caste, religion of the public.”Along with him, the district congress party president Eda Sudhakar Reddy, Ongole town president Tirupati Prakasam, B Chandrasekhar Yadav, Y Rajasekhar and other senior leaders participated in the rally.
