Tirupati: The beleaguered TDP MP N Sivaprasad, who has been facing the wrath of his party leaders, after he openly accused his own government of ignoring Dalits received support from unexpected quarters. The CPM activists led by party district secretary K Kumar Reddy staged a novel protest at Municipal Corporation Office here on Monday and distributed leaflets in support of the TDP MP.

The activists on their knees, holding placards, raised slogans in support of Sivaprasad and denouncing Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for criticising the MP for raising Dalit issues. Speaking on the occasion, Kumar Reddy said senior leader Sivaprasad expressed his anguish mainly on five issues tormenting Dalits but Chief Minister instead assuaging him by giving proper reply instigating his minions to make a verbal attack on MP to silence him which is not proper.
The CPM leader said the TDP leadership which cajoled the leaders, who were angered on the party supremo, for not getting Minister post or losing the post why should make merciless attack on a Dalit leader for genuinely raising the issues of his poor community members. He sought TDP leaders to stop carping Sivaprasad. Saying that it is not new for the TDP leaders to hound those who dissent, he said that the Left party leaders were also faced such castigation from the TDP leaders on the indiscriminate land acquisition affecting the poor more so weaker sections.
Echoing Sivaprasad issues, he strongly demanded the government to fill the backlog SC, ST posts, regularisation of lands under SC, ST enjoyment, compensation for the DKT lands acquired from Dalits on par with patta lands and also compensation as per the amended Land Acquisition Act. CPM district leader V Nagaraju, S Jayachandra, N Chandrasekhar Reddy and others were present.
