Roads are wearing a deserted look as people are not venturing out due to high mercury level for the past one week in the city. Schoolchildren have been spending their holidays by watching television and playing on mobiles due to sultry weather conditions.

Most of the people are covering their face with scarf for protecting themselves from sunstroke. Colleges students and employees are using umbrellas, caps, sunglass and gloves while going outside to protect themselves from sunrays.
Children and senior citizens are not interested to leave their home from10 am to 4 pm. Dr T Harinath of Vijayawada New Government General Hospital said that people are not going out from their home between 10 am and 4 pm due to heat wave.
He suggested to the people for drinking more water to avoid sunstroke. “People should wear cotton clothes and to drink two to three litres of water per day. If anyone affected with sunstroke, they should be helped to take rest in cool place and family members must rub his or her forehead with wet cloth,” he added.
The doctor suggested to drink Oran Rehydration Salts (ORS), tender coconut water and butter milk for protecting themselves from sunstroke.People are preferring watermelon, sugarcane juice, lemon soda and cold drinks to avoid sunstroke in high temperature. Wine lovers are preferring chilled beers than wine.
One of the marketing employees, A Laxman, said that he was facing so many problems with excessive heat while he was doing his job in the city. He mentioned that he is not reaching his company targets due to heatwave from the past few days and spending more hours under the trees due to high temperature. He said he was drinking lemon soda and soft drinks every 30 minutes to protect him from hot sun.
